we have something like 1200+ users in LDAP and ~120 groups. from 20 sec delay
for admin user accounts , we manage to get "only" 4 sec by tweaking the
openldap database (not using the default cached keys, but adding some of
them). But I guess that you already have such optimisations.
For authentication I'm very surprised, it's don't take more than 2 or 3
seconds here, and then things are going relatively fluently.
When we need to wait a long time, it's for exemple when you need to get all
people in the same page (like in sitemgr ACLs) or users accounts management.
But switching apps is not impacted.
Could you be more precise in the king of configuration you are using, kind of
server, overall system etc ... just to get an idea on what's happening ?
