[Pika-dev] Symbol work

Hi!

I just wanted to drop a note (to avoid toe-stepping) that I've done a
bit of symbol work left, as outlined in =PLAN/035.symbol-plans. 

The code is waiting on the udstr stuff before it can actually work.
