Get a rc out and try to contact the authors of the original authors.
Having a page like gettext.wesnoth.org is also usefull and for 0.8
switching the levels to gettext would be nice as well. You could
probably use the perl xgettext implementation for Wesnoths WML with
small modifications for the level XML.
I'll complete the german translation once it's time but I should mention
that most of the old ones got done by aggressivly asking people wheter
they'd like to contribute one. It's some work to get many
translations. :-)
