On a RedHat 7.2 install a while ago, I went through this same
problem. I think, after copying the vga font to the
proper directory etc, I had to go as far as hacking
the /etc/init.d/xfs script and force it to regenerate
some of the font directory info. Copied it to a temp
file and modified it, then ran it. That did the trick.
It wasn't picking up the change.
