Summary: PS/2 mouse "skipping" problem
Original Submission: It has occurred to me the possible reason for a bug that
I've noticed in the PS/2 mouse device emulation. Often times instead of
notifying the guest machine of an overflow in the PS/2 mouse's X or Y count,
the mouse will instead move backwards. I suspect that the PS/2 protocol may
not be followed exactly somehow--leading to the skipping. This may or may not
be related to a bug that makes the mouse pointer in the guest wrap when the
host should on VNC and remote X11 connections. I have yet to see if this
problem also afflicts the Bochs PS/2 implementation.
In particular, I think that the sign bits and the overflow bits in the PS/2
mouse data may not be set correctly. Also, now that I've learned a bit more
about the PS/2 data packet, it may be possible to do Intellimouse (R) type
mouse support soon.
