I think now I've gleaned enough from the internals of output.[ch] and
som.[ch] that I'm able to work in a system for embedding charts into
the output.
But for it to work properly, I'll probably need to bend the code a
bit in ways it wasn't intended.
So should I
a) Do a quick and dirty hack which will probably work in most
situations;
b) Spend more time on it and do the job properly and accept the time
and complexity penalty;
or
c) Leave it alone.
