dear Jeremy,

following steps should work on any spreadsheet file; but could not check it on "excel" files.it is definitely working with PSPP 0.7.10 on an ubuntu 12.04 with ods files.

  1. save the excel file
  2. open PSPP GUI
  3. click File -> import data
  4. in the next window, select your excel file. if you could not see the file, just change the option from "text" to "any spreadsheet file". this option is available just above the "open" button.
  5. this should do the trick.
few inquiries:
  1. in future, please mention the version of PSPP and the operating system you are using. after all, PSPP is a cross-platform tool.
  2. i am not sure about the relevance of your "confidentiality statement in a public mailing list.
