Qemu should be able to support all floppy disks types known by Linux. If
the format isn't recognized, it will use 1.44 MB as a fallback.
I didn't test all formats, but I succeeded to boot tomsrbt, which is an
extended disk image: 1.72 or 1.8 MB if I remember well,
and some other OSes with strange floppy formats...
