Would it not be better to use a command line option? While it seems utterly senseless, somebody might come up with the idea of doing multi boot inside QEMU (that is, installing multiple operating systems on a simulated hard drive). Your scan in this case will only find the first system. And if the first one is Linux/*BSD and the second one Windows, you will set the wrong time zone. No matter how smart you make your program, a human will be smarter and will make a better choice of time zone in a split second. - Bartosz
