I'm sorry, I dont think i explained the problem well.

I can successfully launch qemu from the terminal. I have downloaded the mandrake 10 image from freeoszoo and it loads it fine. I get a console and log in as root. At this point i would like to launch kde on mandrake. When i type kde it begins to load xfree86, but fails and tells me that it cannot find a screen to display on.

any ideas?

Thanks,

Avishai

Hello. Qemu doesn't require X11, but it does require SDL. You can either compile from source or binary from libSDL (http://www.libsdl.org), download the pre-packaged binary (<x-tad-bigger>http://stegefin.free.fr/qemu/qemu.dmg) or install SDL using Fink (http://fink.sourceforge.net) or another package manager. You should be able to launch qemu from Terminal.
