I've seen something like this - usually a solid block instead of space.
Yep, that's it.
I've found I can get a sensible reset simply by swapping to the monitor/serial port view and back.
This means, probably, that the first draw/refresh of the screen starts too early, when the VGA itself isn't properly initialized on the virtual side. If so, a simple initial delay should work good. Opinions?
