Absolutely. My thinking was just that if we're already going to have OpenGL code to support OS X (where SDL isn't an option), then we might as well make it so it's usable elsewhere.

This is an SDL related issue (i.e. SDL may or may not use OpenGL to display graphics). Fixing SDL for Mac OS X would also be interesting.
