Absolutely not!

I don't care if an invented little language or YAML or raw shell
script fragments or an embedded Tcl interpreter or Scheme.  Just so
long as it's not XML.

XML for configuration files is an abomination.  XML is utterly awful
to edit by hand, doesn't diff well, is vastly overcomplex, encourages
overcomplex configuration structures, requires a huge amount of
parsing infrastructure, and is just plain ugly.  Also, while it
doesn't matter here, it's very slow to parse too.
