Hi,
I'm in need of desperate help here. I'm on recently acquired Vista 32
Home Premium system. I am trying to do something I've done previously on
a Vista Ultimate system. I am trying to boot a Debian Etch installation
on a USB hard disk. I am using the following command in an administrator
privileged command prompt:
c:\sw-win32\qemu-20081110-windows>qemu -L . -m 512 -localtime -net nic -net
tap,ifname="Local Area Connection 2" -hda \\.\physicaldrive2 -hdb
\\.\physicaldrive1
(sorry for the wrapping)
Note the \\.\physicaldrive notation to get at the disc (and another,
which I don't think is important in this scenario). It happens with
earlier versions of qemu as well.
The problem I am having is that any changes I make to the guest ext3
filesystem are not committed between cycles of the its guest OS. Now, I
recall having this problem on a Linux host of a Windows XP guest, and in
that case it was because I hadn't noticed that I had no write access to
the device.
First, can someone confirm that qemu would continue to operate even if
denied write access to one of the drives?
Second, is anyone familiar with why on this Vista 32 host, I would not
have write privileges? If that is even why I am having the problem in
the first place.
Thanks very much in advance,
Shaddy
