This is a small evolution of the previous patch I posted here:

I have changed the following:
- use spaces instead of tabs everywhere
- 'struct foo' replaced by 'struct foo ...; typedef struct foo foo'
- removed an fprintf that was unconditionally printed
- rebased to latest SVN
