There are some of us who use Qemu on Windows hosts (and are horrified about the
plans to kill off kqemu). I personally use MSYS/MinGW for compiling as it has
been a lot easier compared to Cygwin/cross-compiling alternative.
I use patches from this site:

I also read/contribute to Qemu forums:

I am going start compiling test builds from git and I am also interested in
seeing what kind of effect the pthreads give to Windows builds.
