lspci shows MSI (not MSI-X) capability for the e1000 in my laptop. It is not enabled. dmesg has this line though:
0000:02:00.0: 0000:02:00.0: Failed to initialize MSI interrupts. Falling back to legacy interrupts.
so the driver at least tried to enable MSI ... cheers Gerd
