In my test, the time needed for signing the ROMs was reduced
from 18 s to 0.75 s.

I still have two small suggestions (which may be realized by a later patch):

* All scripts should be executable (chmod +x).
  Today, there is no common standard for the scripts included in QEMU.

* All python scripts should start with a #! line, for example
  #!/usr/bin/python

Because the patch is really an improvement even in its current form,
I'd like to see it in QEMU git master asap. :-)
