Did you try to add emulation of a PCI serial card natively recognized by 
Windows XP (at least),
like SIIG CyberSerial card?
Available models described in msports.inf are vendorId 131F, deviceId 1000, 
subsystem 00000000, revision 2, or with vendorId 131F, deviceId 2000, class 
code 0700)
