Let's assume /* public domain */ suffices under the laws that apply to
your contributions, because you said so.

Even then it's still unadvisable.  Because legal boilerplate gets
copied.  And the copiers may well be in jurisdictions where your "note"
doesn't suffice.

You, as a commiter, ought to set a good example.
