I think it may help to split this patch into two - one doing the APIC
changes and once unused dropping the large files.

Hm, depending on why this was a "try", there's multiple options for
keeping the current error handling:
* check whether the type exits before object_new(), cf. CPU
* use g_try_malloc0()+object_initialize() if it's a size issue
That said, I like where this is going. It should help with cleaning up
the recently discussed reset back-and-forth with BSP.
