I wrote -r2 so I guess my view was biased from the beginning ;)

I first wanted to wait for diffstat 1.42 to be released and announced
before proposing this patch, but Thomas Dickey seems to be a bit busy
these days. The last version I consider good is 1.39, which doesn't
have -r, so you're right that mentioning this option isn't wise. I'll
make it -f0 (commented out, of course). We can mention -r there in a
year or so, when more users are likely to be able to use it.
