Hi Simon,
The configure script that ratpoison uses was generated by autoconf in
conjunction with automake. They are gnu projects so if you want more
info, you should head over to www.gnu.org. I found them a bit
challenging at first, but once you get the hang of them they're REALLY
NICE!
