   Can't this be implemented with ratpoison environment variables? Each
   label would be one environment variable that stores a stack of
   associated windows. Assigning labels and switching between windows that
   share the same label could all be done (in a relatively easy manner)
   with external scripting.

I think the scripting involved would be fairly intense (reimplement
all the basic navigation functions) but there's no reason it couldn't
be done.
