[RP] Make that two patches

Ignore my mail from a moment ago.  Or not.  I don't think it matters.  Here are two patches, both stemming from my trying to make sense of that ugly set_active_window_body().

Probably a third patch should rename the helper function that I just introduced.  Well, that will be easy, the hard part is deciding on the new name.
