Follow-up Comment #2, bug #16852 (project rdiff-backup):
I think what's happening here is that the .lstat() calls in
fs_abilities.py:242 (within .setdata() and directly in the function) are
being fed stale data by Samba. Perhaps, Samba's information about the file
'A' isn't immediately updated after the file 'a' is changed.
One could write this of as a Samba bug (and an unsupported configuration for
rdiff-backup), but an appropriate use of fsync_local() calls could fix this
situation.
