[rdiff-backup-users] Finding/designing a tar replacement

Hi, I am currently trying to find or create a file format that is like
tar but better suited to non-tape usage. This relates to duplicity,
not rdiff-backup, but I was hoping there would be smart people on this
list too who could come up with some valuable ideas. So please
forgive this off-topic post.

Anyway, the web page at

http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity/new_format.html

lists some of the problems with tar as an archive format, along with
some ideas on how to fix it. If anyone wants to look at that page and
give me feedback, or point me towards new information, it would be
greatly appreciated.
