You could start a page on the wiki with what you've learned so far.  I
really haven't used rsync very extensively (I tend to install
rdiff-backup for anything complicated).

Anyway the switches look ok as far as I can tell (with -f = --force),
and I don't know of any "side effects" other than the one I just
looked up when you mentioned it :).
