I've just noticed that I haven't provided a way to partition and format new EBS 
volumes. I have updated the ec2-rdiff-backup.sh script to include a 'format' 
command which will automatically partition and format the specified volume.

The updated script is available from

I would be interested to hear from you if you are using ec2-rdiff-backup.  I'm
