Hi,

Could you tell me which version of guile you're using?
The error looks like a guile-level error. 

RPGE is tested with guile 1.8.5, so you may want to try that. 
Judging by the fact that the window pops up, you can get through the
SDL initialization code just fine, only to crash somewhere in the guile code.

Perhaps you can try this:
$ touch test.conf
$ rpge -f test.conf

Would rpge start without errors if you did the above, thereby running no scheme 
code at all?
