Hi,

Arachne is a DOS browser being ported to Linux. Resources required
a 486 with 8 meg. Uses svgalib.

Notes on installing the Arachne alpha version.
-----------------------------------------------

Please don't try to install Arachne beta versions for Linux unless you
are experienced Linux user. Some notes which should help you with
installation follow:

Required system components and configuration: Arachne is not
resource hungry, 486 compatible CPU and 8 MB should be enough

kernel 2.x
glibc (libc) 2.1 based system, eg. RedHat 6.1
suitable graphics library, which can be either
svgalib (libvga) 1.4 and libvgagl (included in RedHat 6.1)
GGI libraries (libggi and libgii) - can be obtained from
www.ggi-project.org.
libpthread (for non-blocking DNS requests, included in RedHat 6.1)
video card which supports 800x600xHicolor - sorry, this is only
supported resolution so far
djpeg - required if you want to see JPEG imags
convert - (part of Image Magick package) required if you want to see
PNG imags
configured ethernet or ppp inteface
configured TCP/IP (but Arachne can be tested also offline)

Recommended system components:
sound support in kernel
mpg123 - for playing local MP3 files and online MP3 streams
Arachne launches mpg123 as background task for MIME types
audio/x-scpls used by shoutcast.com and audio/x-mpegurl used by
mp3.com)
any other media player or convertor, which can be added to mime.cfg

-----

This is not an open source project. Here's a link to the page I quoted
from.
