I just installed X from the Red Hat cds onto a slinky install. All
dependencies are satisfied by the files listed on the above page. Mesa
shouldn't need the --nodeps flag.
Xconfigurator started the server without difficulty at both 640x800 and
800x600. I'm using the SVGA server as well with a built in S3 (86c325)
ViRGE graphics controller.
Could you post the generated config file, and details on the monitor and
graphics controller? It looks as though the server couldn't find a mode
line for 640x480 that your monitor could handle.
You might try again, and select 800x600 and see if it likes that any
better.
