8M of RAM should be no problem at all. 1 GB of hard disk space is plenty
for the base system, which needs about 200 MB. You'll want to use the
"slinky" installer, as the "miniconda" installer needs at least 12M of
RAM.
However, slinky is built for Red Hat 7.2 and 7.3. It would take (at least)
some minor modifications of the package lists before it would work for
the 6.2 release. Is the 6.2 release critical, or can you use a more up to
date release?
