A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

david nicol <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: The Extendable Rewriting Notatation
System name: tern
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

As a \"heretic\" from the perl6 project, there are several points of
disagreement I have with Mr. Wall\'s decisions, which vary from
apparent consensus reached in formal discussions in fall 2000
concerning these things, such as which syntax to use to indicate descent into a
data structure. It appears that the \"full compatibility\" promise of the
early perl6 announcements was empty.

This project is to be a working superset of perl 5, geared towards
GNU compatibility, completely without and not seeking approval from
mr. Wall. It is believed that there is no legal problem with the
creation of such a project -- a new computer language, fully
compatible with an older one, but extended in places -- Additionally,
the perl6 people pride themselves in their ability to write emulators,
so creating an unencumbered GNU dialect of Perl will keep them honest.
