A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Dave Coleman <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License: I am quite unfamiliar with what is involved with selecting a
license for my package. If it is determined that the nature of my software is
not suited to the license I have selected, please inform me of a wiser
selection.
Package: SQLynx
System name: sqlynx
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
In this age of hybrid networks and constant migration, the need exists for
Linux systems to be able to communicate with non-native database servers. The
goal of the SQLynx project is to create a Microsoft SQL Server compatible API,
based on the FreeTDS API/protocol. Care will be taken to implement class
methods in a manner consistant with common \'recordset\' objects. SQLynx
should be compatible with any version of SQL server since the SyBase/Microsoft
split.
This \'recordset\' object is developed/debuged and being used to connect to SQL
server 7.0 from RedHat 7.1 in a manufacturing environment for data collection.
Information about \'freeTDS\' is available at www.freeTDS.org.
