Virtual Remote Server

The Virtual Remote Server (VRS) is a pure p2p server cluster that 
provides various Web Services to the internet.  It\\\'s design also offers 
several of the most important advantages of a centralized server.  Those 
are 

1) a persistant, easily accessable net presence, and 

2) a consistant response to requests based on a common and manageable 
database of files and WebService components.

The VRS might be described as a loosely coupled, dynamically 
distributed failover server cluster.  The Servers, as a whole, is made up of 
loosely coupled Local  Data Servers running on participating computers.  
The Local Servers are linked and identify each other in a manner similar 
to the Gnutilla design.  Each Local Data  Server (LDS) responds to 
WebService component requests using appropriate internet protocols.
  
The system aims for the following goals:

* To allow a user complete control over the content and access to        
personal data as webservices
* To maximize reliable availability of webservices
* To maximize the security and privacy of data
* To provide choice of participation and service selection

This project is in the early design phase.  No functional code exists as of 
yet.
