A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Jaco <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: GNU/Linux via RPM
System name: rvl
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
GNU/Linux via RPM: This project is a full from the ground implementation of a
basic GNU/Linux distribution. The project is based on the (GNU/)Linux From
Scratch project at http://www.linuxfromscratch.org but instead of providing a
book to do the bootstrap and basic system installs, it provides RPM spec files
for both the bootstrap system and the basic system which is used to compile the
system from scratch.
The project is aimed at people wishing to create their own RPM-based GNU/Linux
system from the ground-up. Development of the RPM specs for the system is
completely open as opposed to commercial RPM distributions. Distribution of
packages are done via RPM spec files and .tar.bz2 sources, instead of
pre-compiled binaries.
Close matches for the project can be found in Sorcerer, Gentoo and other from
source distributions altough LvR is aimed at creating an bootstrap system first
- allowing you to understand your system to a greater extent.
It already exists and you can see it at http://www.puxedo.org/lvr/
