A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

Tor Fredrik Aas <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: AdaStudio
System name: adastudio
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

The goal of AdaStudio is to make an integrated and enhanced development
environment for new Ada95 programmers. This is accomplished by makeing a
graphical user environment for writing code, maintaining project settings and
building the final executable. Debugging is not a focus at the current time
since this is implemented very good in the GNU Visual Debugger.

AdaStudio will utilize the gnat Ada95 compiler and will mostly act as a
frontend to this. The native gnat make system will be used in the early stages
of project, but this will change later to provide for more advanced project
facilitied such as integration with glade from gtk, asis semantic analyzer for
gnat and glade for gnat ( DSA implementation ).

The target audience for AdaStudio are mainly beginning Ada96 developers and
developers who are familiar other proprietary development environments.

The target platforms for AdaStudio will be GNU/Linux x86, Sun Solaris 2.7 sparc
and Microsoft Windows. The last two are only provided as a service to the Ada
community since we know that there are many users on these platforms (
especially beginners which are our targets )

The project is in early initiation, there is not yet published any thing of
relevance. At this time we have a project handbook which describes the
processes and tools used, and a beginning requirement specification. Work is in
progress to write an HCI specification from the requirements. These documents
are availible upon request, but we prefer to keep them among the registered
developers at this time.

There are currently two developers on the team.

Note : We are having a little trouble with regards to licencing, we are
probably going to use the following tools :

Gnat 3.14p ( ftp://ftp.cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat )
Asis 3.14p ( ftp://ftp.cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat )
GtkAda 1.3.2 ( includes Gtk+ 1.3, http:// libre.act-europe.fr )
Glade 3.14p ( ftp://ftp.cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat )

All of these are either release under GPL, LGPL or the Gnat modified GPL. We
intend to release AdaStudio under GPL. Any comments about anything if this
welcomed.

We are very well aware of Ada mode for emacs and GIDE, but both of these leaves
alot to be desired for the beginner, we know, been there, done that.
