A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Ole Laursen <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Gnome Tanks
System name: gnome-tanks
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
Description:
My project is supposed to be like the old DOS game \"Scorched Earth\"
in which one tries to eradicate other tanks by means of
ballistic missiles (and napalm and nukes etc. :-).
I\'m implementing it for Gnome using the Gtkmm/Gnomemm C++ wrappers
of the Gnome libraries. My goals are:
- Well-behaved Gnome application (e.g. with i18n).
- Fun single-player with intelligent AI.
- Even more fun multiplayer on the same machine in hot seat fashion.
- Perhaps network play. I\'m dreaming of a www.tanks.org server with hundreds
of games being played each day. :-)
So more or less: a kick-ass GNU game to show the world that free
software is more than just ordinary applications! I\'ve got a few
friends to help me so hopefully these goal should beachievable within
a not too distant future. I don\'t currently have much code to show,
though. I need CVS access so we can begin. A tarball with the current
code base is at
http://sunsite.dk/olau/gnome-tanks.tar.gz
The copyright is currently assigned to the FSF; I don\'t know if that
is acceptable without us signing papers to the FSF. If it isn\'t, I\'ll
simply replace the notices with our names instead.
Other Software Required:
Gnome libraries
Gtkmm/gnomemm
