Zeljko Blace <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: lgpl
Other License: noon
Package: GenArtWare
System name: genartware
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

Description:
GenArtWare is a project of producing/developing several free software
toops/applications that are supposed to enable (dis)playing, authoring and
transcoding of generative media content (be it sound, graphics, video, 3D
or integrated multimedia).

With this software we hope to establish a format/standard that would
help introducing new qualities into the media/digital art.

These are primarly variability and generativity of media
(meaning, being able to reproduce the source material more or less
differently every time... without actuall change of the musical score
or visual composition).

Multimedia Institute, non-profit NGO in Zagreb is working on this with
a number of individuals and associated groups.

At the moment there is no code development activity, as we are firstly
trying to get a list of resources (research being done so far,
related software that can be used or used for reference).

Our prime directive is to have working proof of concept on as many platforms
as possible with focus on GNU/Linux and OpenBeOS. We will develop
crosplatform software (and open standards) which doesn\'t use any closed code
libraries. However due to a early stage it is hard to predict exact
methodology and developmant path (will we use C++ or python as programming
language).

Related applications that will influence design/development:
PD - http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/software (Muller Pucket)
CSund - http://www.csounds.com/faq/index.html (MIT licence)
jMax - http://www.ircam.fr/equipes/temps-reel/jmax/en/index.php3 (GNU/GPL)
