Yes, you are right, but it makes no difference:

address@hidden plex86]$ cvs
-d:pserver:address@hidden:443/cvsroot/plex86 login
Logging in to
:pserver:address@hidden:443/cvsroot/plex86
CVS password:
cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server subversions.gnu.org: EOF

If I make the obvious test and use my web browser with
https://subversions.gnu.org:443, I get the web site.
Surely there can not be HTTPS and CVS on the same port!
