[Savannah-hackers] project maintainer having cvs/ssh trouble |

Hello. I'm the maintainer of a Savannah project called GNU Octal. The
Savannah page is
https://savannah.gnu.org/projects/octal/
In the past I've used CVS through SSH to work on the project's source
code and html modules and haven't had any real problems once I got it
working.
I recently wiped my machine to install RH8, and discovered afterward
that I'd missed a bunch of my dot folders during backup (and thus,
~/.ssh/*). I generated a new key using "ssh-keygen -t rsa1" and updated
the SSH Shared Keys page on Savannah with the contents of my
~/.ssh/identity.pub file. That was last night, and as of 12:30PM EST
today I get the following response when I try to check out the source
repository:
--------------
address@hidden dto]$ cvs -d address@hidden:/cvsroot/octal co
octal
address@hidden's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
address@hidden's password:
Permission denied, please try again.
address@hidden's password:
Permission denied.
cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages
if any)
--------------
The contents of my ~/.ssh/config are as follows:
--------------
Host subversions.gnu.org
Protocol 1
--------------
As far as I know it should be asking for a passphrase, not a password.
In any case entering the passphrase for the new key doesn't work. So
from this I conclude that there's a problem with the new SSH key not
being recognized. I don't have a shell account on either subversions or
savannah, so the web form should work.
I remember vaguely that when I was first getting my Savannah access set
up, they said the script that moves my ssh key to the right place had
been choking on the apostrophe in my last name ("O'Toole"). In case
that's happening again, I went into my account configuration on
Savannah.gnu.org just now and took the apostrophe out of my name.
I'll wait another six hours and try again; it wouldn't be the first time
my apostrophe has tripped up a computer :-). If instead I've
misconfigured things on my side, I would greatly appreciate any hints
you can offer on how to set things straight.
Thanks in advance,
...dave
