Djèlil Chafaï <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Random Template Library
System name: rtl
Type: non-GNU
Description:
Project name: RTL = Random Template Library.
Goal: provide a flexible and high quality GPL C++ template library for random
numbers generation.
Motivation: good quality random numbers generators are mostly commercial
software (Mathworks, etc), or random/incomplete pieces of software! Random
numbers generators are widely used in applied sciences, and it\'s really
important to provide a free high quality software doing that.
Why C++: because it\'s a powefull language, enough abstract, and highly
portable with the last versions of g++.
Who am I: a young researcher in probability theory and statistics,
currently doing a postdoc at Oxford University UK. Working also for
the INRA in France. Homepage http://www.lsp.ups-tlse.fr/Chafai/
Project size: relatively small, but collaboration wanted.
Random ideas: Mersene twister for uniform distribution, Marsaglia method for
continuous distributions like normals, exponentials etc. Stream based
generators. Generic generators.
Code: not yet.
