If you just want the sources, you must checkout using:

cvs -d:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/emacs login

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/emacs co <modulename>

<modulename> is the module you want, you can also use "all"
