[Savannah-hackers] problem trying to cvs co gcc

As per http://gcc.gnu.org/cvs.html
I issued the following commands

 cvs -d
:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gcc
login
This worked

 cvs -d
:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gcc -z 9
co gcc
this failed w/

"cvs checkout: in directory gcc:
cvs checkout: `..'-relative repositories are not
supported.
cvs [checkout aborted]: illegal source repository"

subsequently I issued

cvs -d
:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/gcc -z 9
co wwwdocs

which worked correctly (checking out the files).

I'm running on windows 2k cygwin latest version of
CVS.
I'll try later w/ Linux; but can't right now.
