Package: Project AXIS
System name: projectaxis
Type: non-GNU

Description:
AXIS is a turn-based strategy game, inspired by the board game Stratego and the
old Maxis game RoboSport and is also a kind of backlash against failed or
flopped commercial titles. AXIS has a history as well. Before it became a
computer project, it was an original cards+dice board game that was designed
and mocked up possibly to submit to game manufacturers. It didn\'t pan out as a
board game, so it\'s being converted into a computer game with reasonable
design goals. It is not a clone of any other game, but is a completely new game
in itself. The emphasis of AXIS is on the AI which performs on many levels, as
well as the strategic options in the game. The AXIS project already has a
design base (though it is in no way finalized), a website
(http://www.project-axis.net, where some preliminary code is already
available), and some contributing members.

AXIS is intended to be 100% free and cross-platform. There is no reason why all
the good games have to cost $50 a pop and for something many will return in a
week or two. We feel that everyone should be able to enjoy this game without
cost, as the developers enjoyed making it for free as well.
