Tiago Cogumbreiro <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: CDMirror java native cdrom API
System name: cdmirror
Type: non-GNU
Description:
This project is called "cdmirror" and it is divided in two, possibly three,
sub-projects.
The first one, codename "cdrw4java", is to provide a java interface, using jni,
to cdrom programming under linux (maybe later port it to other operating
systems), in a first phase it contains reading calls (to read information of
cds) and one writing call (to blank a cd), in a second phase of the project
will be to start developing writting calls.
The second sub-project, codename "cdmirror" is a graphical user interface,
using swing, to access the cdrom api "cdrw4java", it also has a library for
converting data.
The third subproject does not exists but is intended to, it's to create a
comand line interface that has the same power as the gui one so that developers
can create frontends to this application without the need of developing them in
java.
This is a big project and has many things that can be developed to make it a
usefull one, such as:
- cd imaging tool: create and burn images
- blank cds
- audio ripping tool
- data conversion, for cds images and possibly audio
What is developed so far:
- audio ripping tool: can extract wav and raw audio tracks, plugin structure
that can extend the resulting formats and error correction mechanisms
- extract cd images: can create isos and cue/bin raw images
- blanking tool: can blank a cd in various ways
- conversion tool: can convert from/to bin/cue from/to iso, can convert from/to
wav files from/to raw cd track files.
I didn't tried running the application in a free java implementation as it
required, i only tried using sun's j2re (and eclipse compiler) if there is a
problem with the swing related classes i could release the "cdrw4java"
subproject and the swing-free components of "cdmirror" suproject.
The gui could easely be ported from swing to java-gnome but this is not a main
issue (and would only slowdown the development), gnu.classpath could also be
used.
The source code of the project is located in my homepage
http://s1x.homelinux.net/cdmirror.tar.bz2
Other Software Required:
JNI, swing
