  This project aims at developing a GNUstep-based window manager.

At present, most similar projects are defunct and it seems there is still a
need for a window manager that would integrate seamlessly with GNUstep
applications. It is generally considered that such a window manager should
itself be based on GNUstep and an originality of this project is that it
tries to use the GNUstep API as much as possible and use straight XLib
programming only when this can not be avoided (mainly inside wrapper
classes).

There are three main goals for this project :

- for the current developer : to gain confidence in languages and
technologies (Objective-C, GNUstep, X-Window) in the context of a big
project.

- to contribute to the initiatives towards a GNUstep desktop environment.

- for educational purposes : to provide a clean, well-documented application
that could be a good illustration of how a window manager works. It sould
also illustrate good practices of object-oriented development using
Objective-C and GNUstep.

At present, the source code for the existing software pieces is not published
on the internet (in fact, I am registering this project to savannah in order
to make the source code freely available).
As a result, no URL can be given to access it.

The source code is written in Objective-C and can be compiled using GCC.
It depends only on the GNUstep framework.
