FIELDBUS Description
FIELDBUS is a framework for OMNeT++ [Var05]. OMNeT++ is a public-source
simulation environment free for academic and non-profit use. The framework
itself is available as a module for OMNeT++.
FIELDBUS was developed in the context of a diploma thesis on the University
Dortmund in Germany by myself. In consultation with the chairholder, Prof.
Buchholz (address@hidden), the framework is ready
to be released? under the GPL v2 or newer. It can be used on GNU/Linux and
some other UNIX derevates as well as on any WIN32 platform or MAC OS X.
It actually contains 3 control networks systems: Ethernet, ControlNet and
DeviceNet. The main goal is (beside goals of a framework itself) the
performance analysis and evaluation of communication protocols and network
configurations. Properties:
- Programming language: it's nearly completely developed in C++ on GNU/Linux
with some parts of OMNeT's own NED and MSG language
- Dependencies: the host platform OMNeT++, GNU's STL library, TTL library
[Sou05]
- Development status: alpha

P.S.: the gifs in folder Documentation/neddoc of FIELDBUS.tar.gz are created
during a build of the documentation with abilities from OMNeT++. They, as
well as other files in subdirectories of documentation, are not a direct part
of the framework!
