######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########
Full Name:
----------
ndiff - a tool to diff nmap scans
System Group Name:
-----------------
ndiff
Type:
-----
non-GNU software & documentation
License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later
Description:
------------
Ndiff is a tool that allows the users to do a simple comparsion of any two
nmap scans. It is a very useful tool to help automated and make sense of
large nmap scans. I have a small presentation talking about it and several
similar tools out at the NEbraskaCERT website
http://www.nebraskacert.org/CSF/CSF-May2006.pdf
Ndiff was originally developed by a company named vinecorp. Which now
appears to be defunct http://www.vinecorp.com
Ndiff was released under the GPL2 and later license. Ndiff for the most part
still continues to work without any updates or new versions. Some components
such as nrun have issues with modern versions of PERL.
Probably the best current place to get access to the ndiff source code is at
the Debian page for its source
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/source/ndiff it has already been approved
under the Debian licensing policies so it should readilly comply with
Savannahs.
Ideally we'd like to see the following happen with the project:
o - Source code be available at a reasonable URL
o - Updates so all the components work correctly on Debian GNU/Linux and
other GNU/Linux operating systems
o - Improved documentation/howto guide. The current documentation is pretty
good but improvement is possible
o - Become the default ndiff branch for all Linux distros
o - Extend the current datastore, possibly with sqlite to be able to handle
larger scans
o - Possibly also submit to cpan, based on the releases from here
o - Finish the ndiff todo list :-)
Other Software Required:
------------------------
PERL
Several PERL modules (Portscan, Getopt)
sqlite (possibly)
